FWC Illinois is holding its 1st Leadership Education And Development Seminar exclusively for its members at State Convention this year. LEADS is designed to identify members at the club and district level who have potential and a desire to assume leadership positions in this organization. Illinois LEADS will provide participants with the knowledge, capability, confidence and commitment to work more effectively.

 

The GFWC IL LEADS seminar will be held prior to the GFWC Illinois Annual Convention Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Marriott Bloomington/Normal Hotel from 10:30am—5:30pm. The day will be full of activities, including lunch. All clubs and/or districts are encouraged to send one or more participants Each participant may apply for a grant of at least $30 from GFWC IL to help defray the cost of lodging or travel. The amount of the grant will be announced after the deadline. GFWC IL hopes that all participants will then stay to attend the GFWC Illinois Annual Convention Participating Districts are encouraged to help finance the LEADS participant from their district for costs such as lunch at the seminar.

 

GFWC IL LEADS may include the following: Presentations on conflict resolution, parliamentary procedure, public speaking skills and time management. Explanation of GFWC and GFWC IL resources, materials and assistance

available to clubs and officers.

 

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION

Participants must be an active, dues paying member;

Exhibit an interest and willingness to pursue higher leadership positions;

Agree to share information gained from participation in GFWC IL LEADS with others in her club and district.

Participants will have special seating at a special session.

Have not attended a previous GFWC International LEADS program.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

Each club (General, Junior & Juniorette) may send candidate/s who meet the above criteria.

The GFWC International LEADS participant will be chosen from among those attending GFWC Illinois LEADS. She should be prepared to file the GFWC LEADS application by May 26, 2010. GFWC International LEADS will be held in conjunction with the GFWC International Convention on June 11, 2010 in Omaha, NE. GFWC will cover a portion of the attendee’s expenses including:

Round-trip travel to and from the GFWC International convention city.

One-half of room charge for two nights at the official Convention Hotel.

Breakfast and lunch during the LEADS program.

Discounted convention meal charges.

GFWC Illinois will reimburse a portion of the participant’s expenses as well.
